Gigs Archive

We’re compiling an archive of Echobelly’s shows from over the years, but this is by no means complete and we know there are lots of holes. If you happen to know of any shows that took place that we’ve missed off the list (or that we’ve included here but got slightly wrong), please let us know by commenting below,  Tweeting us or dropping us a line on Facebook and we’ll update the page (and give you a thank you credit).

Hi, you’re missing a show I was at:
April 4th, 1996 at the Urban Art Bar in Houston, TX.
A group of us went to the bar after already drinking, (as was the custom at the time), and the sign at the door said, “Tonight: Echobelly, Admission: $15 dollars”. Never heard of the band so my statement was, “Echobelly?! I hope they’re good for 15 bucks!”. Well, the show was pretty amazing….. rare to enjoy a show when you’ve never heard any of the songs before but the songs were so catchy, (“On” album), and the band was firing on all cylinders…….. perfect mix, loud but still clear, charismatic singer belting out great vocals, while pretty much wearing a smile all night, so it was a unique show that I remember after all these years……. at a time where I don’t remember what I did 2 weeks ago.

Figured I’d chime in to help fill in one of the holes in your gig list.

Cheers,
Albert

PS Not sure how or when to properly use the term “cheers” so hopefully I didn’t just accidentally insult the whole country or the Queen or something.

– Cheers, Albert! We’re quite sure you won’t have insulted Queen or country , Sonya and Glenn

Further to my previous post I will correct my error.
The Bedford Warm Up gig was 23/08/1994 not 1995 !!
Apologies for that !! The gig still isn’t listed though !!

Paul Atkin says...

This list is missing the gig you played on Tuesday 11 November 1997 at UEA Norwich with Rialto in support. It’s funny what sticks in the memory – I remember Sonya replying indignantly to someone in the audience there who shouted “You’re a babe!”: “I’m not a babe, I’m a grown woman!”

Also, the gig of 20-Feb-97 listed as “University of East Anglia, Colchester” should read “University of Essex, Colchester”.

Elvissey says...

The first Echobelly gig in LA, listed here, is March 28 1996. However, I saw them the previous September or November at a gig in Hollywood on Sunset Blvd. Can’t remember the name of the venue. I think they were opening for Echo and the Bunnymen. There’s was a second gig in OC but Echobelly cancelled. I think that was opening for or with The DandyWarhols.

I think and I could be wrong, that I saw you play the gig you listed as being at the Astoria 27 February 1995 (with Dodgy, Skunk Anansie and Reef) and that it was being filmed for some late night ITV television show. Do you remember what the show was called? and if it wasn’t that gig can you remeber which one it was, you def played, so did Skunk Anansie and Reef.

Hi Guys,

Went to see you in Bedford on Sunday and really enjoyed the show. I thought you would like to know that you last played at Esquires in Bedford on 23rd April 1994 supported by Colouryde and Perfume. I noticed that it is missing on your Gig Archive list. Hope that this is useful to you. Best wishes,
